The country's number one banking partner Capitec Bank has come up with a way for their customers to be able to withdraw money at the ATM machine without a need of their bank card. This is extremely exciting news for all those individuals that like convenience.

Not only can you withdraw your money at any capitec ATM, capitec bank has made it possible for you to withdraw money at the following retail shops: Shoprite, U-save, Game store and Checkers retail shops that you easily have access to.

It is very obvious that almost everyone never forgets their phones at home. All you will need to withdraw your money is your cellphone and it does not even have to be a smart one as long as it is a cellphone, you can use it to withdraw money from your bank account without the use of your card.

The following steps are to be taken if you want to send money to yourself for withdrawal without a card:

How to send cash using the app

  1. Tap Transact
  2. Tap Send cash and enter your Remote PIN
  3. Tap the button to send cash
  4. Choose 'From' account
  5. Enter the amount you want to send
  6. Create a 4-digit secret code (this will be used to collect the cash )
  7. Tap Next
  8. Read the terms and conditions, tick the boxes and tap Accept
  9. Tap Yes to confirm the transaction
  10. You'll receive an SMS with the reference number – send it to the recipient
  11. Send the secret code to the recipient in a separate message

Note: You will need to have access to our banking App in order to send cash

The above-mentioned process is for those ones with smartphones. For some of you who don't always have their smartphones for some reason can use the USSD method as described below:

How to send cash using USSD

  1. Dial *120*3279# and reply 9
  2. Accept the terms and conditions
  3. Reply 1
  4. Choose 'From' account
  5. Enter the amount you want to send
  6. Create a 4-digit secret code (this will be used to collect the cash)
  7. Enter your Mobile Banking PIN

Note: You will need to be registered for Mobile Banking in order to send cash

After doing any of these two method you will be sent a reference number to your mobile phone number that is linked to your bank account. This reference number will be the one that you will use to withdraw the money either at an ATM or a selected supermarket.

You will need to utilise the 'Cardless services' option on the ATM to start the withdrawal process. After pressing that, you follow up by pressing 'Collect Cash'. The ATM will then ask you for the 4 digit pin which you should have created a while back when you were sending the cash to yourself. After all the that, your money will be withdrawn.

This service is not for you only, it can serve multiple purposes. Some can use it to conveniently send cash to their loved oned wherever they are in the country without having to worry about then having their I.D or standing in long lines at super markets.

As with everything, this too has its downsides. The only downside to this is the fact that one cannot send more than R5000 while using the capitec banking app and the USSD function limits it to R1000 per cash send.

Capitec Cash Send Withdrawal

How does Capitec Cash Send work? Collecting cash is free for the recipient. The transaction limits to send cash are as follows: up to R3,000 per transaction, a total daily limit of R5,000 and a total monthly limit of R24,999.

R8.50 per transaction is charged to the sender, Capitec Cash Send withdrawal is free for the recipient and can be done immediately at any Capitec ATM, Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Game, Makro, Pick n Pay or Builders store.

To collect the money, you need to visit any of the above stores with your South African ID, along with a Capitec Cash Send reference number and 4-digit secret code provided by the sender.
